INTO GREAT SILENCE

An unlikely film has been filling cinemas in Germany in recent weeks: a three-hour documentary with hardly a single spoken word, set in a monastery.

The film Into Great Silence is an intimate portrayal of the everyday lives of Carthusian monks high in a remote corner of the French Alps.

Heart of Jesus in History

THE HEART OF JESUS IN HISTORY

Five years in the making and filmed in a number of different countries, this 45-minute DVD tells the story of devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus through the ages. A form of religious practice that is as old as Calvary and as contemporary as the pontificate of Benedict XVI, it has been a feature of the devotional life of practically every saint canonised in the last three centuries. The exquisite camera- work of Phil Mullally and the script of Bernard J. McGuckian S.J. relate how the devotion developed through the ages, inspiring so many of the great apostolic initiatives of modern times. Today, no less than 280 religious orders, both male and female, use the term “Sacred Heart” in their title. 150 of these were founded in the 20th century alone.

For the Cure of Ars “the priesthood is a gift of the Sacred Heart”.
