WORLDPRIEST.COM was nominated and short listed for the prestigious Golden Spider Awards 2005 in the Category ‘’Best Community / Charity section. The Eircom.net Golden Spider Awards recognize and rewards excellence in the Irish Internet business.The website features news feeds, podcasting in English, Spanish and Chinese to follow, meditation, music, ongoing clergy formation, spiritual direction, a discussion forum for exchange of ideas, physical health, daily time out, testimonials, reviews and contributions from both priests and lay people.
WORLDPRIEST.COM has already proved to be a welcome aid for clergy and has been warmly welcomed by many church leaders from around the world. It has received over 268,000 hits in a short space of time to today’s date, from the USA, Australia, New Zealand, India, the Seashell Islands and many parts of Europe literally from all over the world since going live end of February 2005.
This is the only website dedicated to providing a central resource for clergy, to serve and assist our priests in their daily ministry of serving the people of God. Much has been accomplished though there are many more exciting developments to come.
This is a major honour for a website dedicated to serve our priests worldwide to be nominated for a GOLDENSPIDER AWARD. It recognizes that in this materialistic and individualistic world technology can and must be harnessed to give witness to the Gospels.
This is the 9th Annual Irish Internet Awards Shortlist and in the past finalists and winners of the Eircom.net Golden Spider Awards have proven to be leaders in the Irish Internet development. The Awards have a very strong business slant, but they are also the only awards to encourage the importance of community/charity aspects of the Internet.
The Awards Ceremony took place in the Burlington Hotel on Thursday, December 1st 2005.
